Product Information

Bravecto Plus Spot-On protects your medium cat (2.8–6.25kg) from fleas, paralysis ticks, bush ticks, heartworm, roundworm, hookworm, and ear mites with a single 2-month application. Apply to the base of the skull using the Twist’N’Use tube; one dose covers fleas and ticks for up to 2 months and heartworm for up to 3 months. Suitable for kittens from 9 weeks of age and cats weighing at least 1.2kg, no prescription required.

Health Benefits

  • Broad parasite coverage in one application: fleas, paralysis ticks, bush ticks, heartworm, roundworms, hookworms, and ear mites all treated with a single dose
  • 2-month protection against fleas and ticks: fewer applications than monthly treatments, with pre-existing infestations killed within 12 hours (fleas) and 48 hours (paralysis ticks)
  • Helps reduces flea allergy dermatitis: controlling adult fleas helps reduce allergic skin reactions in sensitive cats
  • Kills over 95% of paralysis ticks at 72 hours, based on clinical data from over 340 million doses dispensed worldwide
  • Easy Twist’N’Use applicator: snap the cap once to break the seal, part the fur, and apply directly to skin at the base of the skull
  • No prescription required: available to purchase directly without a vet visit

Bravecto Plus is a long-acting cat flea and worming treatment that delivers up to 3 months of flea, tick, and worm protection in a single spot-on dose.

What It’s Used For

  • Flea prevention and treatment: kills pre-existing and new flea infestations within 12 hours, with protection lasting 2 months
  • Paralysis tick and bush tick control: kills paralysis ticks within 48 hours; 2-month protection reduces the frequency of treatment versus monthly alternatives
  • Heartworm prevention: prevents heartworm disease when applied every 3 months (note: apply every 2 months if following the standard flea/tick schedule to maintain continuous heartworm cover)
  • Intestinal worm treatment: treats roundworm and hookworm infections
  • Ear mite treatment: a single dose treats ear mite infestations
  • Flea allergy dermatitis: controlling adult flea populations helps reduce the incidence of allergic skin reactions in sensitive cats

How to give Bravecto Plus Spot-On for Cats to your cat

Apply once every 2 months for continuous flea and tick protection. Apply every 3 months for heartworm-only prevention (apply every 2 months to maintain both tick and heartworm cover).

  1. Remove the tube from child-safe packaging
  2. Hold the tube upright and twist the cap once to break the seal (the cap does not detach)
  3. Part the fur at the base of the skull so the skin is visible
  4. Place the tip of the tube directly on the skin and apply the entire contents in one spot
  5. Keep cats separated until the application site is dry to prevent mutual grooming

Important: Apply at the base of the skull to prevent the cat from licking the application site. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. Continue daily tick searches in paralysis tick regions — the risk of tick paralysis cannot be entirely eliminated.

Why Dr Jack Ayerbe Recommends It

“Bravecto Plus is the product I reach for when cat owners want the most convenient long-acting parasite coverage available. A single spot-on application gives up to 10 weeks of protection against paralysis ticks and 12 weeks against fleas, plus heartworm prevention and intestinal worm treatment in the same dose. Treating every two to three months rather than monthly reduces the number of applications and the chance of owners falling behind on their schedule.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Bravecto Plus protects cats against fleas and paralysis ticks for 2 months from each application. Flea protection begins within 12 hours of application for pre-existing infestations, and paralysis ticks are killed within 48 hours. Heartworm prevention requires reapplication every 3 months for continuous cover, but applying every 2 months (on the standard flea/tick schedule) also maintains heartworm protection.

Bravecto Plus for Cats does not require a veterinary prescription and can be purchased directly. While a prescription is not required, consulting your vet before starting a parasite prevention programme is recommended, particularly for kittens, cats with health conditions, or cats in high-risk paralysis tick regions.

Bravecto Plus is safe for kittens from 9 weeks of age, provided they weigh at least 1.2kg. The safety of Bravecto Plus has not been established in breeding, pregnant, or lactating cats, and it should not be used in these animals without veterinary guidance.

Bravecto Plus is a spot-on topical treatment that is absorbed into the tissue fluids beneath the skin rather than sitting on the coat surface. While the manufacturer does not provide specific water-resistance data for cats, the product’s mechanism of absorption means normal bathing or rain exposure should not significantly affect efficacy. Avoid bathing immediately after application to allow full absorption.

Daily tick searches are still recommended for cats in paralysis tick regions, even when using Bravecto Plus. While Bravecto Plus kills paralysis ticks within 48 hours and offers strong protection, the manufacturer notes that the risk of tick paralysis cannot be entirely eliminated. Regular tick searches allow for early identification and removal of any attached ticks before symptoms develop. For more on this, Dr Jack Ayerbe covers cat parasite prevention in detail.
