Yes, all prescription medicine supplied through our pharmacy partner is:

• Sourced from Australian veterinary wholesalers and handled by registered pharmacists
• Registered with the Australian Government (TGA or APVMA) or prepared by a registered compounding pharmacist
• Processed and dispensed by Australian-registered pharmacists to ensure safety and quality

Order your prescription medication with a new script by following below steps:

1. Request prescription: Consult your vet and request a prescription if your pet needs medication.
2. Order the medication: Find the medicine on our website and complete checkout. If you run into any problems, our customer service team can help.
3. Upload your prescription: After checkout, you’ll be prompted to upload a clear copy of your prescription and provide a few details.
4. Post the original prescription: Follow the instructions to mail the original, signed prescription to our pharmacy. This is required by Australian law before medication can be dispensed.

If our pharmacy already holds your pet’s original prescription and repeats are still available, placing a repeat order is easy:

1. Find the medication

   Search for the medicine on the Vets Love Pets website, select “Use my script on file” and complete checkout.

2. If a new prescription is required

   If your repeats are finished, you will need a new prescription before placing your order. 

   • Contact your vet practice and request a new prescription. Your vet may need to examine your pet first.
   • Upload a copy of the new prescription & place your order online
   • Post the original script to our PO Box (instructions provided after checkout)

No. Australian law requires a valid prescription from your vet before any prescription medicine can be dispensed. Notes, photos, and old medication labels aren’t accepted.

A prescription ensures your pet receives the correct medicine, dose and treatment duration. This keeps them safe and makes sure their condition is treated properly.

Please mail the original, signed prescription to our PO Box address: VLP Pharmacy, PO Box 100, Brighton VIC 3186. Once received, our partner pharmacy can safely dispense your pet’s medication.

Future orders may be delayed until the original script is received. We’re required to hold the physical prescription before dispensing any additional repeats.

Please get in touch if there’s a product you need that isn’t listed. We’ll check whether we can order it in for you through our pharmacy and supplier network.

Once prescription medication has left the pharmacy, it can’t be resold by law, so we’re unable to offer refunds for unused medicines after they’ve been dispatched.

Please keep this in mind when ordering and only request the quantity you need. If you no longer require your pet’s medication, you can take it to your vet or local pharmacy for safe disposal.

Yes, you can upload a digital copy of your prescription when placing your order. The original, pen-signed prescription must still be mailed to our pharmacy using our PO Box address before we can safely dispense the medication.

No. In line with AVA and state veterinary board guidelines, our partner pharmacy can’t accept prescriptions from online-only telemedicine vets. A valid prescription must come from a registered Australian vet.

If your vet decides not to write a prescription, that’s their clinical decision. You’re welcome to see another registered vet for a second opinion, who can examine your pet and determine whether a prescription is appropriate.

Not always. It depends on what your vet has authorised on the prescription.

• If your vet included repeats: You can continue ordering until all repeats have been used.
• If no repeats were written: The prescription can only be used once, and you’ll need a new script from your vet for your next order.

If you’re unsure whether your pet’s script should have repeats, it’s best to check with your vet. Their decision will depend on your pet’s medical needs, how long the treatment is expected to run, and their clinic’s usual prescribing guidelines.

Most prescriptions are valid for 12 months, unless your vet sets an earlier expiry date. The prescription is also considered complete once all authorised repeats have been used.

If your vet hasn’t included any repeats (or has written “no repeats”), the prescription can only be used for one dispensing, and a new script will be needed for your next order.

Repeats indicate how many additional supplies your vet has authorised beyond the first one.

For example, if your vet has written 1 repeat, this means:

• You get the initial supply (e.g., 1 bottle), plus
• 1 additional supply

So in total, you’re allowed two dispensings of that medication.

Yes, we hold your prescription with any remaining repeats. This means you won’t need to post the original script again, and your repeat orders can be processed faster and without any extra postage costs.
