Product Information

Ziwi Peak Air Dried Beef Dog Food is a complete, grain-free recipe made with 96% free-range, grass-fed New Zealand beef, organs, bone, and Green-lipped mussels, gently air-dried to preserve the nutritional properties of raw ingredients in a convenient scoop-and-serve format. Available in 454g, 1kg, 2.5kg, and 4kg, it suits dogs of all life stages including adults, seniors, and most puppies. No prescription is required.

Health Benefits

  • High-meat nutrition without fillers: 96% of the recipe is real beef, organs, bone, and New Zealand Green-lipped mussels, with no grains, potatoes, rendered meals, or glycerin, supporting a species-appropriate, nutrient-dense diet in every meal.
  • Digestive support from cold-washed green tripe: Cold-washed beef tripe provides naturally occurring digestive enzymes and beneficial bacteria to help support a healthy gut environment, particularly beneficial for dogs with recurring digestive sensitivity or loose stools.
  • Skin and coat support: Omega-3 fatty acids from New Zealand Green-lipped mussels and omega-6 from beef work together to help support healthy skin condition and a glossy coat, particularly useful for dogs prone to dullness or seasonal dry patches.
  • Joint health: Naturally occurring glucosamine (1000 mg/kg) and chondroitin sulfate (1300 mg/kg) from beef bone and cartilage help support healthy joint function and cartilage integrity, useful as part of daily care for active adults and senior dogs.
  • Heart and muscle function: Naturally occurring taurine from real animal protein helps support healthy heart muscle function, an important consideration for dogs fed predominantly plant-heavy or low-meat diets.
  • Convenient raw alternative: Gentle low-temperature air-drying removes moisture while preserving the nutritional properties of raw ingredients, offering a high-meat, minimally processed option without the handling and storage requirements of fresh raw feeding.

Ziwi Peak Air Dried Beef is a grain-free, high-meat complete dog food also well suited to dogs with skin sensitivities and food intolerances, using a single beef protein source and no rendered meals or artificial additives.

What It's Used For

  • Food sensitivities where chicken or fish is the suspected trigger: The single beef protein and absence of common dietary triggers makes this a practical starting point for an elimination-style diet where food allergy dermatitis linked to poultry or fish is suspected, conducted under veterinary guidance.
  • Digestive sensitivity and gut health support: Cold-washed green tripe provides natural digestive enzyme and bacterial support, while the grain-free formula with chicory root prebiotic fibre helps support a healthy gut microbiome and suits dogs with recurring loose stools or discomfort linked to sensitive stomachs in dogs.
  • Skin and coat conditions: The high omega-3 and omega-6 content from Green-lipped mussels and beef helps support dogs with recurring dog skin conditions where diet is a contributing factor, including dryness or itching linked to food components.
  • Raw feeding transition or raw alternative: For owners wanting to move away from fresh raw food without losing the high-meat, minimally processed nutritional approach, air-dried provides a shelf-stable alternative that can be introduced as a complete meal or mixed topper during the transition.
  • Senior dog nutrition: The highly digestible, high-protein format (38% minimum crude protein) helps support lean muscle mass maintenance in older dogs, whose ability to utilise dietary protein can decline with age.

How to Feed Ziwi Peak Air Dried Beef to Your Dog

Ziwi Peak Air Dried Beef is significantly more calorie-dense than standard dry kibble (approximately 465 kcal per level cup), so a smaller daily portion delivers the same nutritional value as a larger serve of a conventional food. Transition gradually over at least 7 days by mixing increasing amounts with your dog's current food to allow their digestive system to adjust.

Why Dr Jack Ayerbe Recommends It

“Beef is one of the proteins I come back to when a dog has skin flares or recurring gut issues and has already reacted to chicken or fish. The whole-prey format here means I am getting muscle beef alongside tripe, organ, bone, and green-lipped mussel in a single complete meal, and the cold-washed green tripe brings a level of natural digestive enzyme support that I do not find in most processed foods. The 96% meat inclusion and grain-free profile reduces the number of dietary variables when I am trying to work out what is driving a skin or gut reaction. Feed it exclusively for at least 8 to 10 weeks before drawing any conclusions, and if the coat and stools are not improving by that point, bring them in rather than guessing at another swap.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Transition gradually over at least 7 days, adding a small amount of Ziwi Peak Air Dried Beef to your dog's current food and increasing the proportion each day while reducing the previous food. This allows the digestive system to adjust to the higher protein and fat content of an air-dried recipe. Loose stools during the first week or two are common and often indicate the portion needs adjusting rather than a true intolerance. If stools remain loose beyond two weeks, reduce the serving slightly and slow the transition, and consult your vet if symptoms continue.

Cold-washed green tripe is the stomach lining of beef cattle, cleaned but not bleached, which preserves the naturally occurring digestive enzymes and beneficial bacteria present in the raw ingredient. Unlike bleached white tripe found in some commercial foods, cold-washed green tripe retains gastric juices and microorganisms from the animal's natural digestive process. In an air-dried recipe, these components contribute to gut microbiome support and are well-tolerated by most dogs, including those with sensitive digestion. It also contributes to the high palatability of the beef recipe.

Ziwi Peak Air Dried Beef uses beef as the sole animal protein, making it a practical option for dogs where chicken has been identified or suspected as a dietary trigger. Chicken is among the most commonly reported food allergens in dogs, and a true single-protein beef diet can form the basis of an elimination trial conducted under veterinary guidance. It is important to confirm that no other foods, treats, flavoured supplements, or medications containing animal ingredients are given during the trial, as these can interfere with the results. Always confirm the dietary approach with your vet before beginning any formal elimination protocol.

Ziwi Peak Air Dried Beef contains approximately 465 kcal per level cup, compared to 300–350 kcal in most dry dog foods, because the air-drying process removes moisture while concentrating the nutrients from real beef, organs, and bone. A smaller volume delivers the same caloric and nutritional value as a larger portion of a lower-density food. Feeding to the weight-based guide rather than matching your previous kibble portion is important to avoid overfeeding. Adjust upward for very active dogs and downward for less active or overweight dogs, and monitor body condition over the first few weeks.

Ziwi Peak Air Dried Beef is formulated for all life stages including puppies, with one important exception. Due to natural fluctuations in calcium and phosphorus levels in an air-dried recipe, Ziwi Peak Air Dried is not recommended as a complete feed for puppies expected to weigh 32 kg or more as adults. Large-breed puppies need a precise calcium-to-phosphorus ratio for healthy bone and joint development, and an air-dried food may not consistently deliver that ratio for this size bracket. Owners of large-breed puppies should speak with their vet about an appropriate complete diet for large-breed growth.
