When families can’t afford critical veterinary care, they face heartbreaking choices, like surrender and euthanasia.
Pet Medical Crisis (PMC) prevents unnecessary euthanasia, surrender, suffering and loss in times of financial hardship by stepping up and breaking down barriers to critical vet care.
Working collaboratively with organisations, vets and communities, Pet Medical Crisis delivers timely access to resources and subsidised veterinary care, alleviating emotional and financial distress and keeping families together, happy and healthy.
Pet Medical Crisis and Vets Love Pets are teaming up to help vulnerable families access life-saving care for their pets, and supporting the vets who make it possible.
The People That Pet Medical Crisis Helps
Vulnerable people and families
For pensioners, people living with mental health issues or victims of domestic violence, PMC steps in when financial hardship threatens their pet’s life. Having donated over $2.5 million towards veterinary care and supported 7,500+ families, PMC prevents pets from facing euthanasia or surrender because their owners can’t afford care.
Veterinary professionals
Veterinary practice teams frequently face heartbreaking cases where treatment is medically available but financially not possible. PMC partners with vets by taking on the financial and emotional burden, allowing vet teams to focus on care rather than cost. Over 400+ vet clinics across Victoria support the mission.
Communities
When pets are surrendered or euthanised due to cost, shelters, rescues, and councils absorb the impact. PMC relieves that pressure by funding critical care and preventing avoidable surrender. Their work has delivered an estimated $10 million+ return on social investment across communities.
Stories of Impact
Behind every case supported by Pet Medical Crisis is a story of compassion in action. Each one shows what’s possible when vets, communities, and organisations can come together to make care accessible.
Tiffany & Baxter
When Baxter’s medical emergency left Tiffany facing homelessness and almost unable to afford his care, Pet Medical Crisis intervened to cover his treatment costs and coordinate urgent vet support. Today, Baxter is back on his paws, and Tiffany still has her loyal companion by her side.
June & Bella
Bella has been June’s unwavering source of comfort while she lives on a disability pension — so when Bella became critically ill, affordable care felt out of reach. Pet Medical Crisis stepped in and made the life-saving treatment possible. Now Bella is healthy again, and June has her best friend back.
Glenn & Rosie
After the loss of his mother, Glenn held on to her dog Rosie as a connection to brighter days, but then Rosie’s health began failing, and funeral costs added to the pressure. Pet Medical Crisis funded Rosie’s hospital care, giving them both hope again. Today, Rosie is recovering, and Glenn still has his sidekick to lean on.
Saving Pets. Changing Lives.
Pet Medical Crisis gives vulnerable families a lifeline when veterinary care feels out of reach. Vets Love Pets is helping shine a light on their impact to help raise awareness of the difference compassionate care can make.
You can help, too. Every donation supports life-saving treatment and keeps pets with the families who love them.
