Product Information

Royal Canin® Urinary S/O is for the nutritional management of cats with struvite crystals and lower urinary tract disease.

Idiopathic Cystitis
Thanks to the high moisture content of wet food, Urinary S/O Feline increases urine dilution. Since nearly 64% of cases of FLUTD are idiopathic cystitis, the wet diet should be preferred in cases of recurrent cystitis.

Struvite Dissolution
Urinary S/O Feline helps dissolve struvite uroliths.

Low Rss
Undersaturated urine creates a urinary environment unfavourable to the development and proliferation of struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Urine Dilution
Urine dilution makes the urine less liable to form struvite and calcium oxalate uroliths. The larger urinary volume also helps ensure more frequent bladder emptying.

** This diet is formulated to promote a healthy urinary environment.

Recommended for cases of:

  • Struvite uroliths: dissolution and management of recurrence
  • Calcium oxalate uroliths: management of recurrence
  • Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC)

Not Recommended in cases of:

  • Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
  • Cardiovascular disease (when sodium restriction is sought)
  • Concurrent use of urine-acidifying drugs
  • Growth, gestation or lactation"

Advice and Care

Urinary S/O is a complete dietetic feed for cats, formulated to help dissolve struvite stones and reduce their recurrence through its urine acidifying properties.

Recommendations: It is recommended that a veterinarian’s opinion be sought before use. Feed Urinary S/O for 5 to 12 weeks for the dissolution of struvite stones and up to 6 months for the reduction of struvite stone recurrence. Then the cat should be re-evaluated regularly by the veterinarian to assess the relevance of a lifelong recommendation. Water should be available at all times.

Note: renal function should be checked before recommending a new diet.

We recommend fresh water is always available as part of a healthy balanced diet.

    My cat loves these

Recently my cat was prescribed RC urinary cat food in wet pouches for bladder crystals. She loves the food, but doesn’t seem as satisfied by the amount prescribed for her weight. They are delivered promptly and conveniently, I feel a bit bad about the amount of packaging waste though, and wish they came in something different or recyclable, so lost a star there.

Canned, wet diets, once opened, need to be covered and refrigerated in a sealed plastic or ceramic container. If your pet doesn’t like cold food, try warming it to room temperature before feeding.
