Product Information
PlaqEase Dental Powder by Protexin Veterinary is a daily oral care powder for dogs and cats that helps control plaque, manage tartar build-up and freshen breath, simply sprinkled over food. It combines postbiotics (inactivated beneficial bacteria that remain active), prebiotic fibre, kelp and vitamin C in a chicken-flavoured powder, available in 75g and 150g pots with a scoop included, no prescription required.
Health Benefits
- Helps control plaque: kelp and a targeted postbiotic work together to help reduce the sticky bacterial film that forms on teeth after meals
- Helps manage tartar build-up: by helping limit plaque, PlaqEase helps slow the hardening of plaque into brown tartar that brushing cannot remove
- Fresher breath: kelp helps lower levels of the compounds that cause unpleasant mouth odour
- Supports a balanced oral microbiome: a postbiotic selected for oral health helps support the community of good bacteria living in your pet's mouth
- Supports healthy gums: vitamin C supports collagen production, which is important for gum tissue, while kelp contributes to normal immune function
- Supports gut health too: a prebiotic fibre and a yeast-based postbiotic help support a healthy gut microbiome
- Easy daily routine: a chicken-flavoured powder that sprinkles over or mixes into wet or dry food, ideal for pets that won't tolerate brushing
Protexin Veterinary PlaqEase is a dental product for dogs and cats that adds plaque and breath support to every meal without a toothbrush.
What It's Used For
- Plaque control: daily support to help limit plaque, the bacterial film behind most gum and tooth problems covered in our dog dental care guide
- Tartar build-up (calculus): helps manage the mineralised deposits that form when plaque is left on the teeth
- Bad breath (halitosis): helps reduce the odour-causing compounds behind persistent bad breath
- Pets that resist brushing: an easy food-topper option for dogs and cats where daily brushing isn't realistic, as part of a cat dental care or dog dental routine
- After a professional dental clean: helps maintain the result of a scale and polish between vet visits

Frequently Asked Questions
PlaqEase works from the inside of the mouth each time your pet eats. Kelp (the seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum) helps lower the compounds that cause bad breath and helps reduce plaque and manage tartar build-up. The postbiotic PRIOME® OC, an inactivated beneficial bacterium, helps support a balanced oral microbiome and helps reduce plaque. Vitamin C supports collagen for healthy gums, while a prebiotic fibre and a second postbiotic support gut health.
PlaqEase is designed to be given every day on a long-term basis rather than as a short course. Fresher breath is usually the first change owners look for, and it is best judged after several weeks of consistent daily use. Plaque control relies on giving the full daily dose every day, so skipping days reduces the benefit. If breath stays very unpleasant despite regular use, have your vet check for underlying dog dental disease.
No. PlaqEase is a daily support that helps control new plaque, but it cannot remove tartar that has already hardened on the teeth. Brushing remains the gold standard for home dental care, and existing tartar or gum disease needs a professional scale and polish under anaesthesia at your vet. PlaqEase is a useful addition alongside brushing, or an easier option for pets that won't tolerate a toothbrush, and helps maintain the result after a vet dental clean.
Yes. PlaqEase is formulated for both dogs and cats, so one pot can be shared in a multi-pet household. Cats and small dogs under 10kg need one scoop daily, sprinkled over or mixed into their food. The chicken flavour helps with acceptance in fussy cats, and a little water can be added to help it stick to dry food. Our cat dental care guide covers the other habits that help keep a cat's teeth healthy.
PlaqEase contains kelp, which is naturally high in iodine, so Protexin Veterinary advises using it with caution in animals with thyroid conditions. This is especially relevant for cats with hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid) and dogs being treated for thyroid disease. Speak to your vet before starting PlaqEase if your pet has a thyroid condition or is on thyroid medication, and ask about alternative dental products if it isn't suitable.
