Product Information

Simparica TRIO is a monthly chew that gives dogs complete, vet-grade parasite protection in one go.

It's APVMA-approved to treat and prevent fleas, paralysis ticks, deadly heartworm, roundworm, hookworm, mites and mange, with added protection against mosquitoes. Each tasty liver-flavoured chew lasts up to 35 days, so protection is easy to keep on track and easy for your dog to accept.

Benefits

  • Triple attack on heartworm: prevents infection, kills juvenile heartworm and eliminates the mosquitoes that transmit it
  • Fast-acting: kills fleas within 4-8 hours and ticks within 24 hours
  • No gaps: monthly protection that lasts up to 35 days for fleas & ticks
  • Full worm cover: treats and controls heartworm, roundworm, and hookworm in one chew
  • Handles the extras too: treats ear mites, demodex mites, sarcoptic mange, and flea allergy dermatitis
  • Easy to give: tasty, liver-flavoured chew that goes down a treat, with or without food
  • Safe for sensitive breeds: well tolerated in Collies and other avermectin-sensitive dogs
  • Vet-grade: from Zoetis, trusted in animal health for 70+ years

Directions:

  1. Choose the right dose: Select the Simparica TRIO pack that matches your dog's body weight — refer to the weight guide if unsure.
  2. Give monthly, with or without food: Most dogs take it like a treat. For fussier dogs, pair the chew with a preferred treat or place directly into their mouth.
  3. Repeat every month, year-round for continuous protection: Start at any time of year — there's no need to wait for tick season.
  4. Missed a dose? Give as soon as you remember and continue their regular monthly schedule.

Suitability & Care:

  • Suitable for puppies aged 8 weeks or older, weighing at least 1.25 kg

  • Compatible with a wide range of common medications — but if your dog is on other treatments, it’s best to discuss with your vet before starting.

Frequently Asked Questions

The green-pack Simparica Trio is dosed for large dogs from 20.1 to 40 kg. Other size bands exist for puppies and smaller adult dogs. Always weigh your dog before ordering — using a size band below your dog's actual weight reduces effectiveness, and the band above wastes active ingredient.

Simparica Trio does not cover tapeworm — it covers roundworm and hookworm only. Dogs at risk of tapeworm (those that hunt, scavenge, eat raw meat, live in hydatid tapeworm areas, or have flea infestations carrying flea tapeworm) need a separate tapewormer such as praziquantel-containing tablets every 6 weeks or as your vet directs. For comparison with other parasite product combinations, see Dr Jack's guide to the best dog parasite treatments and preventatives.

Simparica Trio does not require a vet prescription — it's available over the counter in Australia. We do recommend speaking with your vet to confirm the right size band based on your dog's current weight as part of a broader preventative care plan.

Simparica Trio is safe for Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, and other Collie-type breeds at the labelled dose. Regulatory safety data shows it's well tolerated in these breeds because the moxidectin is used at a lower dose than older parasiticides and has been specifically evaluated in Collie-type breeds. As with any monthly preventative, follow the labelled dose for your dog's current weight band — don't double-dose if you miss a month.

Simparica Trio and NexGard Spectra are both monthly chewable all-in-one parasite products, with different active ingredients. Simparica Trio uses sarolaner + moxidectin + pyrantel; NexGard Spectra uses afoxolaner + milbemycin oxime. Simparica Trio kicks in slightly faster on fleas (4 hours vs 8 hours); NexGard Spectra covers whipworm in addition to roundworm and hookworm. Neither covers tapeworm. Your vet can advise on the right pick for your dog's specific lifestyle and parasite risk. See Dr Jack's parasite treatment guide for a full comparison.
