About Dr Lisa Deering

Dr Lisa Deering, BVSc, BAppSc(Agr), is a veterinarian with three decades of experience across mixed practice, small animal care and shelter medicine, and a contributing vet at Vets Love Pets.

Education and experience

Dr Lisa graduated from the University of Sydney in 1995 and has spent the 30 years since working across mixed animal practice, small animal medicine and not-for-profit shelter work. That breadth shows in how she practises: clinically thorough, and always thinking about the animal's experience as much as its treatment.

At Meow & Friends Community Vet she focuses on fear-free handling, surgery and mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals. She helped establish Australia's first BCorp-certified veterinary practice and has been a pioneer in integrating veterinary social work into clinic operations, recognising that caring for pets means caring for the people attached to them.

Dr Lisa's role at Vets Love Pets

Lisa contributes clinical content and reviews for Vets Love Pets, with a particular eye for cat health, low-stress handling and the human side of pet care.
