Protect from Fleas
- Fleas are more than just a nuisance, in some cases causing chronic skin disease and even transmitting infectious or parasitic diseases. Some of these can be transmitted to humans too.
- NexGard kills fleas on dogs for 5 weeks (35 days), ensuring protection for a full month. By killing fleas fast, NexGard breaks the flea lifecycle, helping keep your dog healthy and your home flea free.
- Through its rapid effect on fleas, NexGard also prevents the transmission of flea tapeworm.
Protect from Ticks
- Australia is home to a number of tick species that can affect dogs. Of greatest concern is the potentially deadly paralysis tick which, each year, affects an estimated 10,000 dogs and cats.
- A single adult female paralysis tick can kill a dog if left untreated, so preventative strategies are essential.
- NexGard kills ticks on dogs (paralysis ticks, bush ticks and brown dog ticks) for 35 days (5 weeks) ensuring protection for a full month. To minimise the risk of tick paralysis, it’s also important to perform daily searching and removal of ticks.
Protect from Mites
- Mite infestation, also called mange, can cause severe skin or ear irritation and impact your dog’s quality of life.
- Some mites, for example Sarcoptes scabiei, can also be transmitted from dogs to humans.
- NexGard is an effective ear mite treatment for dogs. It also treats and controls demodectic mange caused by Demodex spp. and sarcoptic mange caused by Sarcoptes scabiei.
Protect from Lice
- Lice are tiny insects that can cause skin irritation and hair loss.
- NexGard treats and controls biting lice on dogs. To minimise the likelihood of lice reinfestation, it is important to treat all animals within a household with an approved lice control product.

Why Choose NexGard?
NexGard is a popular flea and tick treatment for dogs that has gained a reputation for its effectiveness in preventing and treating infestations in Australia. Developed by the animal health company, Merial, in 2013, NexGard was the first chewable tablet to contain the active ingredient afoxolaner, a new class of insecticide called isoxazolines. This ingredient works by interfering with the insect's nervous system, leading to paralysis and ultimately death. Unlike traditional flea and tick treatments, which rely on topical solutions, collars or sprays, NexGard's chewable formulation makes it easier to administer and less messy for pet owners.
NexGard's ability to kill fleas and ticks within hours of administration, along with its long-lasting protection for up to 30 days, has made it a popular choice for pet owners in Australia. Before starting any new medication, it's important to consult with a veterinarian to ensure that it is safe and appropriate for your pet's individual needs.
